Rathika Seelan, the rising star of Indian squash, claimed the Bondi Open 2025 title in Sydney, Australia, on Friday. The 24-year-old, ranked 160th, dominated the competition, not dropping a single set throughout her journey to the championship. This victory marks her second PSA career title, following her triumph at the HCL Squash Tour Indore last year. Seelan's prowess was evident in the early rounds, where she defeated fellow Indian player Aaradhana Kasturiraj and Thailand's Anantana Prasertratanakul with identical 3-0 scorelines. In the semi-finals, she overcame local favorite Sze Yu Lee, securing her place in the final showdown. The Bondi Open triumph was a significant part of Seelan's successful two-week Australian campaign. She had previously finished as the runner-up at the NSW Open, narrowly losing to Canada's Iman Shaheen in a fiercely contested final. Seelan's performance at the North Coast Open earlier this month, where she fell to second seed Lojayn Gohary of Egypt in the semi-finals, further showcased her talent. The win at Bondi Open is expected to elevate Seelan's ranking, pushing her closer to her career-best ranking of world No. 157, achieved in October 2023. The current best-ranked Indian woman in the PSA singles rankings is 17-year-old Anahat Singh, who holds the world No. 38 position.
