Finally after first announcing the Street Fighter movie back in October of 2006, a full cast has been secured. Kristin Kreuk was previously confirmed to star as Chun-Li in the movie titled after her specific character - Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li. Officially: Michael Clarke Duncan, Chris Klein, Rick Yune, Moon Bloodgood, Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, Singapore's Edmund Chen, and Hong Kong film star Cheng Pei Pei have all joined the cast as well. With a line-up like that, I've got a good feeling this is destined to suck.
"Smallville's" Kreuk will play the lead character Chun-Li. Michael Clarke Duncan will play boxing champion Balrog. American Pie's Chris Klein will play Air Force lieutenant Charlie aka Nash. Die Another Day's Rick Yune will play the mystical master assassin Gen. Moon Bloodgood, Taboo, Edmund Chen, Cheng Pei Pei will fill unannounced roles, but I expect them to fill in the remaining Street Fighter characters like Ryu, Ken, Guile, Cammy, or Ibuki. Although that is only speculation at the moment on these, I'm sure their exact characters will be confirmed eventually. However, M. Bison, the movie's villain, still has not been cast yet.
We previously said that the movie was Doom-ed (pun intended) to suck when it was announced that the terrible director Andrzej Bartkowiak, of Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and yes, Doom, was attached. The script was penned by first-time feature screenwriter Justin Marks. Filming is set to begin in March in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Vancouver. HK fight choreographer Dion Lam, who previously worked on The Matrix Trilogy, Spider-Man 2, and all of Bartkowiak's films, is handling the fight sequences.
Street Fighter is a very touchy subject for a few people. Either they're hardcore fans of the games and Hollywood almost always butchers video game adaptations to hell. Or they've got an absolute hatred for the 1994 Street Fighter movie that starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. Either way, there is a lot of bad blood coming into this movie from the start and they'll have to prove everyone that this could be good or it's destined to be a flop (like Doom). As of right now, I'm not too confident.

Here's the thing. I want this movie to be good. That would be awesome. Street Fight was an epic game. But almost, and I say almost, not all, video game adaptations really do suck. Why is this? There are so many creative writers out there, why can't just one make a creative and intriguing script with characters that have already been created?I think Metal Gear Solid needs to be made into a movie. That game has a better plot than most spy/action movies out there.What do you guys think is the best video game movie?

actually a lot of people dont realise that Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas is a very accomplished marshial arts artistand he has been in several other films with major stars tooso dont hate on him yet, at least give the movie a chance, hell they havent even started filming yet!!

STREET FIGHTER MOVIE.Michael Clark Duncan and Chris Klein will star in the Street Fighter movie,Duncan will play Balrog and Klein will play Nash and Rick Yune will play Gen,plus Moon Bloodgood,Taboo and Edmund Chen will also star.Capcom will be producing the film alone with Hyde Park Entertainment,Capcom is also bringing out Street Fighter IV game will be release out soon.Capcom has other video game movies in with Onimusha directed by Christophe Gans,Takeshi Kaneshiro will reprise his role as Samanosuke Akechi.The script is written by Keiji Inafune,John Collee and Lesley Krueger,Capcom will work on the storyboards and the film plotline will be based on the first game Onimusha Warlords.Onimusha should be filmed in Japan instead of China and there will be Japanese and Chineseactors and film producers involved on the film.Capcom should get in talks to work with Threshold studios (Mortal Kombat) to work on the Darkstalkers movie.Thank you.BRUCE ACOSTAAUSTRALIA.

This movie is going to suck even worse than the first one! Why oh why do these ppl insist on making main characters out of chun li and guile? I bet Ryu and Ken are just gonna be footnotes in this movie too. They're even gonna have a Chinese wu-xu artist as Ryu.

The main reason why we haven't seen a Ryu lead in a street fighter movie is because of the fear of the producers that it wont sell to the audience. Having an Asian female (Chun Li) with a white male (Guile) is a safe, acceptable and profitable tandem. When was the last time you have seen an Asian male kissing a white woman in movies? hmmm... that's what I thought. If they would have Ryu as the lead, they cant go as far with his story -unless they would want a no brainer kungfu flick.

I just want to see Kristin pull off the Chun Li outfit. Nuff said. I think Ryu could be a main character it would just take some intelligent writing.

Kristin Kreuk was good as Lana Lang but I honestly don't think she's got what it takes to be Chun Li. Then again, I can't really see anyone in today's current acting world in Chun-li's age range fitting her perfectly. I'll probably see it just to see it but it already sounds like it's going to be a videogame movie letdown. I really don't see Neal McDonough playing Bison too well and I'll have to see Taboo's acting and martial arts to make a determination on him. Michael Clark Duncan would probably be alright as Balrog but there are a handful of other guys that would be alright as balrog as well. Everyone else, I'll probably be ok with. I just hope that they just don't try to make it "too real", you know?
